NEW RELEASE – ANINOKO / NAMATAY SA INGAY – SPLIT – 7″ EP / ESN032

ANINOKO / NAMATAY SA INGAY – Split – 7” EP / ESN03
COVER ART

This explosion on wax is a special release that is long overdue. ANINOKO bring their San Francisco wrath. NAMATAY SA INGAY delivers their New York City furor. Together they combine the Pinoy immigrant experience fusing together 4-songs on one fierce 7” split record.

ANINOKO / NAMATAY SA INGAY – Split – 7” EP / ESN032
Side A: ANINOKO

SIDE A

ANINOKO explode with two ripping tracks.  “Paghugpong” introduces the split with blitzing riffs and lightning drums powering through this 1:22 minute swarm.  It’s full of attack and style with vocals that scream for unity across the people of the Philippines grappling through internalized cultural inferiority and cycles of oppression – one of the many symptoms of colonization.  ANINOKO blasts through with pure angst, slicing up-tempos with unprocessed rage.

Thumping drums and bass begin the second track, “Alipin Ng Mundo.”  The pace escalates into a flurry of drum rolls as the song detonates into a charged kick to the skull.  This song viciously addresses the continued exploitation of immigrant women by first-world bosses.  Battering notes and frenzied vocals scream “Hindi kame mga alipin / mga alipin ng mundo,“ “We are not slaves / slaves of the world. “

Side B: NAMATAY SA INGAY

SIDE B

NAMATAY SA INGAY unleashes their charge, bashing through the speakers with two roaring songs in Tagalog.  “Pagtapos Ng Apoy” is a fast, aggressive number with growling chants and driving rhythms.  The sound is merged with saw cutting guitars and breaking, raspy vocals keeping this recording lively and true. “Pagtapos Ng Apoy,” calls out a rotting system that has been kept in place for far too long.  We wouldn’t expect anything less than this high-velocity song to introduce their side of the split.

Their second track, “Ngayon Ay Bukas,” begins with deep driving bass riffs over simmering feed back giving cue to something menacing about to go down.  Blasting into controlled havoc, the song breaks into smashing drums mixed with snarling vocal incursions complimenting a rough, full-steaming temperament.  Jackie Mariano (MATERIAL SUPPORT) takes over guest vocal charges, giving this piece a cutting touch.  NAMATAY SA INGAY convey their message with raw, untamed attack leaving you wanting more the way good songs are supposed to.

500 pressed on black and transparent red vinyl.

NEW RELEASE- ANNAPURA – “III” – 7” EP / ESN030

ANNAPURA – It’s really not surprising that such a behemoth sound could erupt from a three-piece. This three-part ingredient is what has made ANNAPURA a solid formula in Mexico City since 2013. They have arrived on the landscape with a fury, and eagerly continue to demonstrate their detonating riffs backed by an arsenal of drum attacking mayhem. Once these laid back gentleman plug in their instruments the scene shifts to a pleasant assault of thundering notes, sonic bass, and pounding rolls that make one realize these motherfuckers are for real. Their agitated vocals cut through the pain with thoughtful lyrics in Spanish that stitch together the personal and the political. They are rooted in a scene that aggressively supports one another and share the sounds of isolation, disgust, and comradery. ANNAPURA is not for the faint-hearted or delicate eared. We are lucky to experience and share their side of the world with you all.

This 7” is just what we expected from Mexico City’s heavily acclaimed trio. ANNAPURA fervently slay through seven brutal songs, further showcasing their raw and relentless approach to their unwavering sound. Haunting bass strokes start off this release as they explode with their intro, “Dime”. They kick into form with frenzied hits spilling into track after blistering track. III will tear your world apart and pull you into a ten-minute furious time warp. They obliterate the final inch of this wax with “Ener”, striking pissed off blows bellowing “A la mierda / La violencia / El Machismo / La injusticia”. We will remind you once more, ANNAPURA is not for the faint-hearted or delicate eared. This release is limited to 500. 100 – half-blue, half-black and 400 – transparent blue. Release date: 4.20.2017

ESN- 025  “Frecuencia de Corte” is the first and final full length of the now deceased JACQUES COUSTEAU hailing from Mexico City.  It is the follow-up release to their 2014 7’’ split with MONOGITARI. “Frecuencia de Corte” executes a deliberating beautifully composed brutal attack on the senses.  A definite pleaser for those experiencing boredom from contemporary hardcore. JACQUES COUSTEAU creates a space for new noise and fresh ears. This session is truly epochs in seconds. Words cannot give enough justice to “Frecuencia de Corte” but rather something that is to be experienced.  Tracks on this album range from six seconds to two-and-a-half minutes.  Fast, explosive, rhythmically clustered, chaotically flustered, creating complex layers that are linear, noisy, and jazz infused. Blown out throaty vocals, heavy driving bass lines, accompanied by jangly, crunchy, spazzed out guitars. All pieced together with soulful drum signatures navigating into disarray, making their sound even more artful, unique and apparent. Caution: Do not drink their water, unless you want the best acid trip Mexico has to offer. Limited release of 217 Cassettes.

ESN-026 WASTE AGE’s self-titled EP demonstrates complex, layered, musical patterns that continue the moody melodies of what you could only expect from another Chung Il Kwon project. Following their 2013 split 10” with Pittsburgh’s EDHOCHULI, this record captures the band’s pronounced songwriting, honing their intricacies, making their musicianship feel effortless. Intertwining guitars each in different tunings and deep groovy-dark keyboards fill the room. This EP is full of rich harmonies – vibrant and on-point, and a lot of hair to back up the punching drums. A punk approach to post-rock, both playfully elaborate and raw. Soul-punk at its finest. “Their best release to date” – anonymous KUCR DJ. Okay, Elliot Fong said it. Art by Fritz Aragon. Recorded by the band themselves at their very own Beware House. Limited 150 CD release.

ESN-027 Released in October of 2015, NEW RUIN’s debut release encapsulates the band’s social consciousness and reverberating live performances. Taking influences from punk, hardcore, and new wave, the eponymous release’s seven tracks integrate melodic interludes through a wall of sound. With songs about deindustrialization, alienation, dirty wars, and the will to resist, their work aims to humanize communities often forgotten, suppressed, or struggling to reclaim themselves from the grips of capitalism and imperialism.  All music was written by NEW RUIN.  All lyrics were written by Anna Quinones and Kevan Aguilar. Artwork by Tomas Acosta. Recorded at Beware House studio in Orange, CA with Chung Il Kwon and Matt Pathmajeyan. Check out the release here: https://thenewruin.bandcamp.com/releases.

ESN-028 “Days of future thrash” The sons of Tijuana are back at it again without a doubt.  This extension of the late great WALLE bring the birth of XHENDRIX, the brain child of Rene Bocanegra and Victor Villarespe. This twisted mixture of psychedelic powerviolence, classic 80’s hardcore riffage, post primitive punk, decadent bass licks, and retro 70’s stoner rock flare (not in the vein of Toni Iommi, but dare we say, Hendrix?). This debut cassette EP from XHENDRIX toasts the lineage of their prominence and tenure to Tijuana DIY hardcore.  With this new project, Bocanegra and Villarespe have teamed up with drummer Sergio Picos to continue their never-ending genre-bending assault.  Ambitious and unapologetic, this you must hear and experience. Recorded at Earth Capitol by Alex Estrada.  Packaging designed by Picos. Limited 250 cassettes.

Marron 12″ S/T EP and Malastare 2014 Cassette EP out now!

MARRÓN takes its chief inspiration from the area’s highly racialized landscape of inequity, tragedy, and beauty. But while SoCal is the home, DC hardcore rings throughout the chords, and these veteran members of bands such as ESPERANZA, MUGRE, and DESCARADOS bring a new kind of fire to their emotive sound. Owing as much influence to bands like SWIZ as to the political writings of ALBERT MEMMI, MARRÓN brings a new wave of sound and race-critical perspectives to punk and hardcore that will make you want to dance and decolonize! However, you will need none of these references to be moved by the music contained in this record. All records include a download.

The first 25 pre-orders include limited clear vinyl and limited poster print by Pável Acevedo

malastare - cassette - ep

MALASTARE’S 2014 Cassette EP blasts melodic crust to a new level. Their dynamic drumming, fat overdriven bass, and atmospheric guitar sets a dark tone for heavy riffage all too appropriate for an Ethospine Noise collaboration. Brace yourself, this three piece from Guadalajara, MX are undeniably one of the best contemporary bands in punk/hardcore. Fuck the hype, this shit is real. Keep your ears open for their 2016 LP.
